Today on the #InternationalDayofPeace, we are praying for everybody who is suffering from the effects of conflict at an unstable time for our world. We pray for a better, more peaceful world.

This weeks Wednesday Word is Change.
Throughout the school years, the whole family will grow and change – learning more about life and about one another. Change can be an exciting part of family life. In this Sunday’s Gospel, the father represents God and the sons represent ways that we can respond to God. Initially one son refused his father’s request, but then
he had a change of heart for the better. This Gospel sets us a challenge.
Sometimes we may not always respond to God in the best way. However, God our Father is always there to welcome a change of heart. No matter how many times we need to start again – God will be there for us.
Dear Lord Jesus, grant me the courage to change what can be changed, the peace to accept the things that cannot be changed, and the wisdom to know the difference.
Amen

This weeks Wednesday Word is Forgiveness.
In this Sunday’s Gospel, Peter asks Jesus the question about how many times we should forgive. Jesus’ answer
shows that we must forgive one another just as God forgives us: again and again, without limit. God is our loving Father and we can always count on his loving forgiveness and on the freedom that his forgiveness brings. Jesus instructs us to be just as forgiving toward others.

This weeks Wednesday Word is treasure.
In this Sundays Gospel, Jesus compares the joy of the kingdom of heaven to the joy of finding hidden treasure or valuable pearls. When we try to live as Jesus taught us; Gods kingdom grows within our hearts.
Dear Lord Jesus,
Help us to have hearts that treasure you above all things, and to share the treasure of love with everyone.
Amen.

This weeks Wednesday Word is Growing.
We cannot grow up by ourselves; rather we journey and grow in a community, in a family. Pope Francis
This Sundays Gospel reminds us that the kingdom of God is growing all around us.
Dear Lord Jesus,
Thank you for the people who help us to grow in your love and please help us to keep growing in goodness.
Amen

This week’s Wednesday Word is ‘ Listening’. Jesus wants us to listen closely to his words. He wants us to take the time to think and really understand what he is saying – to be like good soil in which the seed (his words) can take root. Then God can work through us to produce a great crop of goodness in our world.
Dear Lord Jesus,
Thank you for listening to us. Please help us to listen and understand your words and to be good listeners to each other too.

This week’s Wednesday Word is ‘Companion’. Jesus wants us to be our companion through life – to be there for us always, reminding us that we are loved by God. Jesus never wants us to be troubled, he wants to be our companion – to help us live peacefully in his way. We are doing this whenever we are loving and caring, trying our best to be gentle and kind – bringing calm and comfort to others.

This week’s Wednesday Word is ‘Selfless’. Through the Gospel this week, Jesus is encouraging his disciples to be ‘selfless’ – to give him first place in their lives. They are to forget about themselves and to put others’ needs before their own – to be selfless. This message is for each one of us too.

Christmas
Journey through Advent – The Christmas Story – Video
“She wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger, because there was no room for them at the inn.” Luke 2:7
Christ Jesus,
as we celebrate your birth in a stable
we remember all those among us
who are left out, who live in poverty,
who are homeless
and who long to go home.
Make room in our hearts
for our sisters and brothers,
so that we may reach out to them in love.
Amen
Whole School Liturgical Prayer
Prayer plays a very important role in helping our children to further their spiritual development.
On a Monday morning, each week, children gather together for Liturgical Prayer. This focuses on the Gospel from the previous Sunday. At the end of the prayer time, each class is presented with a weekly mission linked to the Gospel.
Class Prayer
Our children say morning, afternoon and home time payers every day. The RE curriculum allows regular opportunities for the children to pray around a class focal point and to reflect on key religious themes. Children plan and lead weekly liturgies in class and parents are invited into school to share key class liturgies with the children.
Christian Meditation
For five minutes each day, each class takes part in Christian Meditation. This gives the children a chance to quietly reflect and to know how to take time out of their day to focus their thoughts and prayers. Music is played whilst children focus on images, hymns, artwork or scripture which links to something important to them or something they feel they need to focus on as a group.
Prayer Space
Our Mini Vinnies have set up a quiet prayer space for all children to use during lunchtime.
Weekly prayers for parents, staff and children.
