The school council and pupil voice have had fun this afternoon creating a scarecrow for the community competition. We worked together to create Sally the scarecrow to represent our school and to show how children in our school community work together to let their light shine.
Heath Bus – Parent drop in sessions.
Next week, we are very lucky to have the Health Bus visiting us in school. On Monday and Tuesday, children will be taking part in activities on the bus, all to do with keeping healthy.
We would also like to offer family members a chance to drop into the Health Bus to see what the children have been doing. It is also a good opportunity to gather information from the staff leading the sessions.
These sessions will be on Wednesday 17th May from 9:00 am – 10:30 am and again at 1:30 pm – 2:30pm.
We look forward to seeing you there.
Welcome Back!
We would like to welcome all children and families back to school after the Easter holidays and Bank holiday weekend. We hope that you have all enjoyed spending quality time together and made the most of the lovely weather.
This is a very busy term for all of our children and we are looking forward to the many exciting events which will take place. Please keep looking at the blog to find out more about key dates or the lovely activities that the children will take part in over the coming weeks.
Extraordinary Easter Assembly
What a lot of chocolate eggs! We had a fun assembly this afternoon and everyone left with an Easter egg – large or small. Lots of money was raised for the school, also.
The Real Easter Egg
We have been working in partnership with our Parish to promote the true meaning of Easter and to raise funds for charity by supporting the ‘Real Easter Egg’ campaign.
The Mini-Vinnies have promoted the ‘Real Easter Egg’ campaign by holding a whole-school poster competition, which encouraged all children to share the Easter story. They have also sold a fantastic 78 Real Easter Eggs, which are the only eggs that share the true meaning of the Easter story. In total, the Mini- Vinnies have raised over £300 for good causes!
Well done Mini-Vinnies!
Thursday Morning Prayer Sessions
We would like to remind all families about weekly prayer sessions that are happening in school. They will take place in Class 4 between 8:30 am and 8:45 am, every Thursday morning.
It is a time for parents, grandparents, carers or any other family members to spend some time reflecting, praying and joining together as part of our school family. It is a short session to have some quiet time with your own thoughts and to take part in prayer times with your child. Adults and children are encouraged to take part in these sessions together.
What A Wonderful World Book Day!
We have had a wonderful day celebrating World Book Day. Each class has had an amazing time taking part in a range of activities. Staff dressed up, children dressed up and family members came into school to join us in our celebration of reading.
All of our children completed all parts of their ‘The Big Book Off’ challenge and they have all received a certificate.
We have had some amazing comments and feedback from families who joined us today. Here are just a few examples of comments left by family members today:
” Very enjoyable. It was nice to see all of the children working together.”
“Fantastic morning spent in school this morning for World Book Day. There were lots of fab activities for the children and we watched them all working together. Well done! We would like to do more events like this.”
“Great concept. I enjoyed spending time in class and seeing how the children interact and work with each other. It was nice to get involved. It would be great to do again next year.”
“We had a lovely time in the classroom and really enjoyed working with the children. I think it is a great idea to involve parents.”
“What a lovely idea. I have really enjoyed my time with each of my three children. Thank-you.”
“What a bunch of characters we are!”
Please see class blogs for class activities linked to World Book Day.
Thank- you for your continued support.
World Book Day Creative Sessions
Although World Book Day is 2nd March, we have decided to have a big celebration on Friday 3rd March 2017. A letter has been sent home tonight which details the events for the day. We would love to see children dressed up as their favourite characters if they wish to do so.
We would also love to see parents or family members (maximum of 2 per child) in school to take part in our creative activities during the morning (9:00 – 10:00am). Please return the slip on the letter, by Monday 27th February, if you are able to attend.
E- Safety Workshops
Thank-you to all family members who attended our E-Safety talks tonight. The children presented their work about E-Safety beautifully and staff and parents discussed strategies to keep children safe online.
E-Safety is extremely important in our modern, technological world and the messages heard tonight re-enforced how to keep our children safe online both at home and at school.
A date for your diaries: Friday 10th February Mass.
Class 6 will be leading the Mass on Friday 10th February 2017.
Mass will start at 9:30 am and there will be refreshments in school after Mass. All are welcome.
We look forward to seeing you there.
