Lent this year starts on Wednesday 17th February, during our half-term holiday. We have attached an online calendar from CAFOD below, that can be used to help us to focus upon our journey towards Easter.
Well done to all of the children working hard at home and in school. It is great to see how you are all enjoying your learning and brilliant to know that so many of you managed to log onto Teams and access the videos that your teachers have made for you. The staff have all enjoyed talking to you and answering your questions. Keep up the excellent effort!
We would just like to take this opportunity to offer our heartfelt thanks for your kind and generous donations towards our foodbank appeal. You have all made such a difference to the lives of so many of our families, and others within the wider community, and have proven once again that during difficult times we pull together as a school family and have been able to show the true meaning of Christmas.
We wish you all a peaceful and happy Christmas.
We marked Remembrance Day in our school by observing a silence at 11 and we took part in prayers and reflections related to remembrance. Following a strict risk assessment with all protocol followed, two of our School Council members took a handmade wreath to the memorial in Shotton.
From today (Monday), parents and carers whose children are eligible for means-tested free school meals will be able to apply for one £15 voucher per child on council’s website at www.durham.gov.uk/freeschoolmeals. After filling in a form, they will then be sent a QR code, which can be redeemed at any PayPoint or Post Office and used to buy food and drink supplies. Residents can find their nearest PayPoint at www.paypoint.com/en-gb/consumers/store-locator or Post Office branch at www.postoffice.co.uk/branch-finder.
Anyone who struggles to access the internet or does not have a device that would support the digital code can call the local authority’s County Durham Together community hub on 03000 260 260. Staff will be on hand from 9am to 5pm, Monday to Friday, to help people with the forms or talk through other options.
