The children have had a great time in the snow today. Check out our class blogs to see all the fun.
Shoe Box Reading Challenge
Mrs Smith (the new English Lead) and all the staff are very impressed with the shoe boxes already brought in for the reading challenge. Some have been displayed along the veranda window and some excellent examples are shown below.
Don’t forget to bring yours in for Friday 18th January, it’s worth two stamps on your challenge card.
Happy New Year!
Welcome back. From everyone at Our Lady of Lourdes, we hope 2019 will be a year full of joy, peace and happiness. We look forward to working with you all again over the Spring term.
Christmas Party Day
The whole school have had a wonderful time on Christmas Party Day. We all enjoyed a fabulous party lunch and played games in our classes. We even had a special visitor, Santa, who arrived to see if we had all had fun. Merry Christmas.
Christmas Events
We have had a wonderful start to our Christmas celebrations. Last Friday, after our hugely successful Christmas Fayre, the whole school enjoyed Christmas Dinner. Children, governors and staff all came together to share this special time together. Thank you to Mrs Natress and Mrs Iley for making such a delicious meal.
This week, the children all took part in their Christmas Performances. All of the children, in both Key Stages, truly let their lights shine and were so respectful and confident in church. Thank you to all children and staff for working hard to produce these wonderful performances. A special thank you also goes to Mr Nicholson and Jamie, for both giving up their time to play the carols for the children during rehearsals and during the final performances.
Next week we have our Christmas party day on Tuesday and our trip to the Pantomime on Wednesday. Another exciting week to look forward to.
Christmas Coffee Morning
We are so excited for our Christmas Coffee Morning tomorrow. Look at all of the fantastic things our children have made. Come and join us for a cup of tea and a browse.
Reading Challenge 2
Thank you for the amazing response to our second reading challenge- book reviews. We have had some fantastic suggestions of books and staff have enjoyed reading about all of the different books that have been recommended.
The next challenge will cover November and December, with two ticks to be earned for reading passports. It will be sent out shortly.
Reading is so important and it is lovely to see how special books are to all of our children.
Youth Sunday
This weekend is an important weekend, it is Youth Sunday. On Sunday 25 November, the feast of Christ the King, the Church invites young people to be at the heart of its celebration of National Youth Sunday. Today, representatives from Year 5 and 6 attended a special Mass, where Year 6 children who are part of the Youth Council, read some prayers. It was lovely to join other schools in our partnership. The children brought back some prayer cards to share at school.
The whole school will take part in a special assembly, just like many other schools, on Monday to further understand the importance behind Youth Sunday.
Christmas Fayre
There is still plenty of time to head down to our Christmas Fayre. There are some wonderful items for sale- the perfect presents for Christmas. The Fayre runs until 6:30pm. Why not join us for a cup of tea and a browse?
Children in Need
We have had a fantastic day in school supporting Children in Need. Children came to school in spots, Pudsey t-shirts and also non-uniform. Children also received a Children in Need wristband as part of their donation. We all gathered for celebration assembly today and looked wonderful in our Pudsey outfits. Thank you for your support.
Here are some of our amazing outfits.
